About

The “Bottle”

Bald Head Bottle is a “neighborhood” spot on Bald Head Island, North Carolina. Created by two long-time friends and island enthusiasts, we believe in wines that are grown sustainably, made with minimal intervention, and that taste absolutely delicious (and pairs nicely too). While we are not a restaurant, we do have a little menu of artisan snacks.

The space is a celebration of good wine, the island’s history, and discovering the next best bottle (and the memories that come with it). We take our wine and your happiness seriously.

Bottle Club Memberships

Finding ships in bottles in rare these days; just like finding the next best wine on the island. In order to include our friends and family in the search, we have created a club to sample, expand your wine knowledge, broaden your palate, provide feedback and get some perks along the way.

We also wanted to create fair opportunity for customers to scoop up the best goodies coming through town and to also get special pricing through a monthly membership model ($50 monthly). We accept new memberships monthly depending on availability (a minimum two months is required but then you can cancel anytime).

Monthly Member Perks:

  • 2 curated picks each month from our team of sommeliers, wine experts and award-winning vendors based on personalized profile
  • First look/dibs at new release and arrivals via special events
  • Delivery fees waived on unlimited special orders of items not carried in-store
  • 10% discount on merchandise and snacks
  • Free tastings and pours at monthly membership events
  • Kids accompanied by member get a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage or snack monthly

Use our Contact Form to inquire about the waitlist.

Jordyn Matthews

Owner/Sommelier

Born in Chicago, Jordyn’s first memories were of evenings in her grandmother’s basement bar. She grew up around an extended family that cherished laughing and enjoying each other’s company over drinks. After all, drinks are better shared with friends and family.

Fast forward a few decades after finishing her Masters in Business and studying to become a sommelier, Jordyn is ready to take her fond memories and love of family, community and good wine to a place that she has been coming for years with her husband and small children. She wanted to create that same “family, neighborhood” atmosphere in a place she loves, Bald Head Island. In all of the businesses that Jordyn has opened or been a part of in the past, hospitality and community are the forefront foundations for each business model. Bald Head Bottle is no different.

Jordyn is a sommelier and has a love affair with wine. Her favorites depend on the occasion, but she believes you should never save Champagne for the “special” moments. Who says a regular Tuesday is not something to celebrate?

You can catch Jordyn behind the bar leading weekly tastings and providing recommendations for pairings for your next relaxed home-cooked meal or big milestone event. You can also catch her each morning running, paddleboarding or enjoying East Beach.

Jason Kaczor

Partner of BHB
Co-owner of Ridgewood Wine and Beer, Raleigh, NC

Originally from the Northeast, Jason moved south and has called North Carolina his home for the last 22 years. Jason’s fathers passion for wine rubbed off on him at a very early age while his family lived in Europe. His interest continued to grow when he managed a small wine shop right out of college. Jason has been in the wine business for a little over 21 years and is the Co-Founder/Co-Owner of Ridgewood Wine & Beer Company in Raleigh, which has won numerous awards (most recently winning “Best Five Wines in Raleigh Under $25 by Raleigh Magazine”). Aside from finding those gems that overdeliver for the price, another of his greatest enjoyments is helping people find the right pairing to elevate their culinary experience.

His drink of choice definitely depends on the meal or mood, but Jason’s go-to glass is a dry Rosé or Gruner Veltliner. Jason loves spending time with his wife, kids, two dogs, experimenting with new recipes, and training for another Ironman Triathlon. You will find him mostly behind the scenes researching new small production vineyards and winemaking techniques. He is the brains behind the “new releases”.
